Q&A Session with Author Faye Hall

Faye Hall writes historical erotic romance set in small, rural towns in Queensland, Australia. Her most recent book is the passion-driven Deceit & Devotion, which centres on a forbidden romance.

Could you share your background as an author?

It was my parents that encouraged me to start writing as a very young child. I wrote little ditties and poems and thoughts from my mind.

I started writing Historical Romances while still a teenager and I was first published just after I finished high school. My best selling book to date is probably Shrouded Passions, a tender tale of second chance. My latest book, Deceit & Devotion, deals with a forbidden romance between a cattle station owner and a half caste man in her employ.

What do you use your mailing list for?

When my website was first developed I had a mailing list, but unfortunately I didn’t find it very beneficial. Looking back now I’d say it was mostly because I was still getting a fan base and was very new to the industry.

We are in the process of again doing a mailing list so I can let my followers know about any upcoming books and events I will be involved in.

Do you have any advice for aspiring or new authors?

Marketing can be quite hard and time-consuming if you’re not sure where to start. The trick I have found is to stay constant, especially in the world of social media. Even if it’s just a small post each day, it is enough to keep you, and your work, being noticed. I find I get the best response from Instagram at the moment but no doubt that will alter again in a few months.

As for what the next big thing will be – isn’t that the question we would all love the answer to!
